ILM Leadership and Management

ILM - the largest awarding body for professional management qualifications across Europe

ILM Leadership and Management qualifications are aligned to the UK Qualifications and Credit Framework and all are accredited by the Office of Qualifications & Examinations (Ofqual). Managers put their learning into practice as they progress, realising an immediate benefit to their businesses.

The ILM Award or Certificate in Leadership and Team Skills is ideal if you are a practising team leader. It will help you become more effective and confident in your role. It is also ideal if you are a new or aspiring team leader as it will help you make the transition from working in a team to leading a team. The units in this qualification cover a wide range of skills, knowledge and understanding.

Level 3 Leadership and Management

ILM Level 3 Leadership and Management is ideal if you have management responsibilities but currently no formal training and if you are serious about developing your abilities.

  • Ideal candidates for this training:

    • A team leader seeking to move up to the next level of management

    • A member of staff working in a managerial role who now needs to lead people through organisational change, budget cuts or other pressures.

    Networking is a pro-active means of sustaining and generating new business. It is an essential skill not only for sales personnel but also for anyone within a professional business setting. Many people initially find the process of networking intimidating. It can be difficult to strike the appropriate balance between effective networking and ‘pushing’.

    • Helps you to achieve a good grounding in business protocols and develop the technical skills you need to lead effectively

    • Provide a valuable insight into the specialist areas such as finance and marketing

    • Develop the capabilities and understanding needed to become an effective leader

    • You will be accredited with a nationally recognised qualification.

    • Develops and informs middle managers giving them a comprehensive understanding of their role and function within your organisation

    • Supports your managers to enable them to assess and improve their own leadership styles

    • You can customise this qualification to close skills gaps which may exist within your organisation.

This qualification will help you to get to grips with your managerial role, gain comprehensive business knowledge and develop the technical skills you need to lead effectively at this level.

Level 5 Leadership and Management

Level 5 Leadership and Management is a Level 5 Award, Certificate or Diploma for practising middle managers, helping them to develop their skills and experience, improve performance and prepare for senior management responsibilities.

The qualification will help you to analyse your existing skill set and identify areas needed for development and it will help you to develop your skills and experience and so improve your performance.

Coaching & Mentoring Qualifications

Level 2 Award in Effective Mentoring Skills

This qualification is for those who wish to develop their knowledge and skills.

  • This ILM Level 2 Award in Effective Mentoring Skills qualification is perfect for you if you wish to develop your knowledge and skills in order to undertake, and therefore understand, effective mentoring. This could apply to a range of situations, such as a commercial organisation, the voluntary sector and community groups.

    • You will develop an understanding of how to mentor others

    • Use your skills to reflect on your own performance and learn key listening and questioning techniques

    • Understand how to organise activities to support and guide staff and plan effective mentoring sessions

    • You will learn the importance of an effective coach and mentor, gaining valuable development tools along the way

    • It will help you to develop practical skills, tools, and techniques and how to put your new skills into practice

    • Enable you to analyse, assess, and plan to improve your own mentoring ability.

    • Opportunities to coach and mentor members of staff within your organisation

    • Enable you to compare your organisation’s coaching and mentoring practice with nationally recognised standards

Level 5 Certificate and Diploma in Effective Coaching and Mentoring

These qualifications are for managers who are responsible for effective coaching and mentoring.

  • Are you a manager with significant responsibility for effective coaching and mentoring within your company as part of their daily role? Then the ILM Level 5 Certificate and Diploma in Effective Coaching and Mentoring qualification is for you. It's also ideal if you who wish to move into a development role within a company or start a career as a freelance coach or mentor.

    • Give you the ability to assess your own skills, knowledge and behaviours as a coach and mentor

    • Hone skills to know how to manage the coaching or mentoring process needed to support and promote your organisation

Level 3 Certificate in Leadership and Management for the Construction and Built Environment Sector

    • This course is aimed at team leaders, supervisors, foremen and site managers seeking to gain a thorough understanding of leadership and management principles to effectively lead, supervise and safely manage staff in the built environment and construction industry. Currently this course attracts funding from the CITB.
