This is a hands-on, workshop-based role ideal for someone who enjoys building quality panels and takes pride in neat, accurate work.
Job Description
As a Panel Wireperson, you’ll be responsible for assembling, wiring, and testing low-voltage electrical distribution panels, working from engineering drawings and specifications. You’ll be part of a supportive team working to high safety and quality standards.
Key Duties
Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, GA drawings, and BOMs
Assembling and wiring LV distribution panels, control panels, and sub-assemblies
Cutting, stripping, crimping, labelling, and terminating cables
Installing trunking, cable looms, terminals, busbars, breakers, contactors, relays, meters, and sockets
Carrying out basic electrical testing (continuity, insulation resistance, and functional testing)
Identifying and reporting drawing errors, missing components, or build issues
Working to production schedules and deadlines
Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised workshop
Requirements
Proven experience as a Panel Wireperson, Electrical Fitter, or LV Panel Builder
Previous team lead/supervisory experience
Experience working with low-voltage (400VAC) distribution panels
Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and schematics
Good attention to detail and a high standard of workmanship
NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering
Knowledge of BS EN 61439, BS 7671, and switchgear up to 630A is desirable
